You get a set number of cuts and trims each month at a fixed price, so a haircut becomes a standing part of your routine instead of a decision (and a price check) every single time. It's the same idea national chains have started building whole loyalty programs around — we just run it out of one neighborhood shop instead of a franchise network.
A plan makes the most sense if you're already a regular, or want to be — someone who knows they'll want a fresh lineup or beard trim on roughly the same cadence every month. It makes less sense for occasional or once-a-season visits, where paying per service is simpler.
